Located in the northwestern region of Thraea, it borders the untamed lands of the north. One of the Seven Kingdoms this territory has a large amount of “frontier” area that has seen little cultivation but also remains rich in natural resources because of it. The area has many hills and peaks with two large mountain chains framing the northern portion of the land and extending down to the south. The climate is cool to cold due to the high elevation, even during the summer, with the winters being brutally harsh and snow remaining on the ground for seven to eight months of the year.
The people that live in this region tend to be hardy and fiercely independent. The stubbornness and somewhat standoffish nature of the kingdom’s residents are well known to all on Thraea. It’s said in legend that Osen was the last kingdom to join the old empire, and when turmoil erupted and the empire began to crumble, was the first to break free and discard the old banner. The common languages of the area are Rumanic and Norfren.
Most communities in Osen tend to be small, usually numbering in the hundreds rather than the thousands, with but a handful of towns large enough to support a full time armed force, and only one true city.
